Education Incentives





This policy applies to SSD employees who hold certification for school employees, including ancillary certification, from the Department of Education.




When budget considerations allow, SSD will reimburse employees who earn university credit at accredited institutions, or who attain additional certification, that the SSD Superintendent or designee deems beneficial to SSD students.


Preference will be given, in order, to:


The SSD Superintendent or designee must approve the courses or Praxix test before the grading period begins or the test is taken.


An employee requesting reimbursement must give the following to the School Director or Regional Coordinator at least two weeks before the grading period or test:

The SSD Superintendent or designee may require additional information.


The employee may not receive full reimbursement. Reimbursement is limited to actual costs, up to $290 per credit hour. Reimbursement may be further limited for budget reasons.


The employee must pass each test and must pass each course with a C-equivalent or better.


The employee must provide an official transcript or score report, and a receipt of payment before reimbursement will be made.
